What does "Show correct answer" do?
The Show Correct Answer setting controls whether trainees can view the correct answer after answering a quiz question and allows trainers to explain it.
When enabled, this setting provides two benefits.
Benefit 1: Trainees Can View the Correct Answer
If a trainee:
- Answers a question incorrectly, or
- Has no remaining attempts for the question,
an Answers button will appear. Selecting Answers reveals the correct answer.
If the trainee answers the question correctly, the explanation is displayed automatically, and the Answers button does not appear.
Trainee Experience
- Incorrect answer (or no remaining attempts): Answers button appears, allowing the trainee to view the correct answer.
- Correct answer: The correct answer explanation is displayed automatically without requiring the trainee to select Answers.
Benefit 2: Trainers Can Add a Correct Answer Explanation
When Show Correct Answer is enabled, trainers can enter text in the Explanation of Correct Answer field for each quiz question.
Use this field to explain why the correct answer is correct or provide additional context for learners.
The explanation is displayed:
- Immediately after the trainee answers the question correctly, or
- After the trainee runs out of attempts and selects Answers.
The explanation is not displayed when trainers preview the course.
Default Behavior
By default, Show Correct Answer is enabled when creating a quiz question.
After selecting a question type, you can enter content in the Correct Answer Explanation field to provide additional guidance for trainees.
