How do course deadlines work?
Course deadlines let you limit how long trainees have to complete a course after they receive their course invitation.
Once a deadline is reached, trainees who have not completed the course can no longer access it until their deadline is extended.
Set a Course Deadline
- From the left navigation menu, click Courses.
- Select the desired Course.
- Open the Settings tab.
- In the Deadline section, specify how long trainees have to complete the course after receiving their invitation.
- Enter the number of days or weeks allowed to complete the course.
- Save your changes.
The deadline is applied to trainees when they are invited to the course.

What Happens When a Deadline Is Missed?
After a course deadline passes:
- Trainees who have not completed the course lose access to the course.
- Their course status changes to Missed Deadline in reports.
- Administrators, Trainers, Managers, or Team Leads can extend the trainee's deadline if additional time is needed.
Extend a Missed Deadline
If a trainee needs more time to complete the course:
- Open the Course.
- Select the Trainees tab.
- Check the box next to the trainee's name.
- Click Trainee Actions.
- Select Set Deadline.
- Choose a new deadline from the calendar.
- Save your changes.
The trainee regains access to the course until the new deadline.

Understanding Course Deadline Timing
Course deadlines are based on Pacific Time (PT) and take effect at 12:00 AM on the selected deadline date.
This means trainees have until 11:59 PM PT on the previous day to complete the course.
Example
If you set the deadline to June 1:
- Trainees have until May 31 at 11:59 PM PT to complete the course.
- At 12:00 AM PT on June 1, any trainee who has not completed the course is marked as Missed Deadline.
Tip: If you want trainees to have the entire day of June 1 to complete the course, set the deadline to June 2 instead. The course will remain available through June 1 and expire at midnight on June 2.
