Publishing Captivate 8 and 9 SCORM content
To ensure the best compatibility with Trakstar Learn, publish your Adobe Captivate 8 or 9 project using the recommended SCORM settings. These settings help ensure learner progress, completion, and quiz results are reported correctly.
Before You Begin
Adobe Captivate 7, 8, and 9 projects are supported by Trakstar Learn. Captivate content can be uploaded on the Trial, Premium, and Enterprise plans.
Step 1: Set the Project Size
Because learners may view your course on different screen sizes and devices, configure an appropriate project size before publishing.
Recommended dimensions:

To resize the project:
- Select Modify.
- Choose Rescale Project.
- Select User Defined.
- Enter the desired width and height.
Step 2: Open the Publish Window
- Click the Publish icon.
- Verify the project title.
- Confirm the output location where the published files will be saved.
- Verify the publishing settings before continuing.
Step 3: Configure eLearning Output
Select the eLearning Output link (it may display Disabled or SCORM 1.2) and configure the following settings.
Required Settings for All Projects
Regardless of whether your project contains a quiz:
- Set eLearning Output to SCORM 1.2.
- Set reporting to Incomplete → Passed/Failed.
Tracking Options
Choose the appropriate tracking option based on your project.

Using the correct reporting and tracking settings ensures Trakstar Learn records learner completion correctly.
Step 4: Configure Settings
Open the Settings tab.
If your project includes a quiz:
- Set the quiz requirement to Required.
If your project does not include a quiz:
- You can set the requirement to Optional or Required.
It is also recommended to hide the playbar while learners are taking a quiz to help prevent them from accidentally skipping quiz content and failing the course.
Step 5: Configure Pass or Fail Settings
If your project includes a quiz:
- Configure a passing score.
- Use the same passing score in both Adobe Captivate and the Trakstar Learn module whenever possible.
- Set Attempts to 1.
Important: Do not configure multiple attempts in the Captivate Pass or Fail settings. If additional quiz attempts are needed, configure them on the individual quiz properties instead. Multiple attempts configured at the publishing level can cause learners to become stuck during the quiz.
Step 6: Publish the Project
After verifying all settings:
- Return to the main publishing screen.
- Click Publish.
- When publishing is complete, locate the generated .zip file.
The .zip file is the package that will be uploaded into Trakstar Learn.
After publishing your Adobe Captivate project, upload the generated .zip package to your Trakstar Learn module.
Upload the Published Package
- Publish your Adobe Captivate project using the recommended SCORM settings.
- Locate the published .zip file.
- Open Trakstar Learn.
- Upload the .zip file as your module content.
The uploaded .zip package is the version learners will launch within Trakstar Learn.
