Replacing files in modules

If you need to update the content of an existing module, you can replace the module's file instead of creating a new module. Replacing a file allows you to keep the existing module while updating its content.

Replace a File in a Module

  1. From the left navigation menu, select Modules.
  2. Open the module that contains the file you want to replace.
  3. Click Edit or Module Actions, depending on your module type.
  4. Locate the existing file.
  5. Select Replace.
  6. Choose the updated file from your computer.
  7. Wait for the upload to complete.
  8. Save your changes.

The module will now use the newly uploaded file. Any courses that include the module will display the updated content.

Before You Replace a File

Keep the following in mind before replacing a module file:

  • Replace the file only when you are updating the existing content.
  • Verify that you are uploading the correct file before saving your changes.
  • Allow the upload and processing to complete before assigning the module to learners or testing the course.
  • Review the updated module after the replacement to confirm the content displays correctly.

Verify the Updated Module

After replacing the file:

  1. Open the module.
  2. Preview the content.
  3. Confirm that the updated file displays as expected.
