What happens if I update a module or course while trainees are taking it?

You can update an active module or course at any time, even after it has been added to a course and trainees have been invited. The effect of your changes depends on each trainee's progress at the time the update is made.

If a Trainee Has Not Started the Module

Trainees who have not yet started the module will see the updated version when they begin the training.

If a Trainee Is Currently In Progress

Trainees who are already working through the module will resume the module at the beginning of the updated content the next time they access it.

If a Trainee Has Already Completed the Module

Trainees who have already completed the module will not see any changes to their completed training.

If Modules Were Added or Removed from the Course

If you add or remove modules after trainees have completed the course:

• Real-time reporting displays a notification indicating that the trainee completed an older version of the course.
• Their original completion record remains unchanged until you choose to update it.

If You Only Edited Module Content

If you only make changes within an existing module (such as updating content), no notification appears in real-time reporting for trainees who previously completed the course.
