Engagement Trends

What does this tell me, and why does it matter?

As an HR Leader, I want to understand and describe how significant learning patterns across the company play out over time.
The combination of the trend chart and the data narrative gives an HR Leader insights into how Course Invites, Course Starts, and Course Completes have trended. The visuals are organized into quarters to allow for an easier comparison of trends over time, helping to highlight seasonality.
The data narrative below the trend chart provides talking points toward key insights into quarterly patterns. HR Leaders can quickly take away insights around when learning is most active in their organization, along with insights around where lack of engagement (Non-Starts) is most problematic. They can also see when trainee completion is accelerated.

Definitions

Learning Activity: Total Invites + Total Starts + Total Completes

 • Utilized to determine when your trainees are most active in starting and consuming Learning content

Non-Starts %: (Total Course Invites - Total Course Starts)/ Total Course Invites

 • Represents the percentage of trainees who have been invited to a course but have yet to start the course. (Invited, but not Started)

Course Completion %: (Total Course Completes - Total Course Invites)/ Total Course Invites

 • Represents the percentage of invited courses that also have been completed

Avg. Quarterly Completes: Total Course Completes/ # of Quarters in Time Frame

 • The average # of completions per quarter based on the time frame selected

Pro Tip!

Clicking any bar chart element for a given quarter will filter the dashboard display to focus only on that quarter.

Course Completion Trends

What does this tell me, and why does it matter?

As an HR Leader, I want to see what courses are completed most often and how that correlates to course completion trends to understand better which courses are pervasive and where we have room to improve completion rates.

The Course Completion plotted visual portrays relationships among course invite volumes, completion rates, and total completion counts. Courses plotted in the top right corner have both high completion rates and high completion counts. Courses plotted in the top left may have high completion rates but smaller numbers of completions. The bubbles' size effortlessly portrays a course's pervasiveness - the number of employees invited to participate.

Definitions

Total Completions: # of Courses with a completion date

 • Represents the total number of completions per course within the selected time frame

Course Completion %: # of Course Attempts Completed / # of Course Invites

 • Represents the rate of completion that trainees invited to a course complete the course in its entirety

Unique Trainee Count: Count of Trainee IDs per Course

 • Represents the number of trainees invited to a particular course within the quarter
 • Displayed in the varying size of each course bubble chart element

Pro Tips!

Bubbles - Clicking on any plotted bubble point will select the specific course and filter other dashboard elements to focus on that specific course. Clicking a second time removes the filter.

Course Name Legend - Clicking the name of any course in the Course Name legend column will select the specific course and filter other dashboard elements to focus on that specific course.

Trainee Leaderboard - Based on Learn Engagement Scores

What does this tell me, and why does it matter?

As an HR Leader, I want to know who among our employees is most engaged with Learn course content. A leaderboard offers an easy tool to promote learning engagement through public recognition of top participating employees.

Engagement Score is a Trakstar-calculated score combining several starts and the number of completes per employee to give a single number metric that compares active engagement in learning activities during a chosen time frame.

Definitions

Total Starts: # of Courses with a start date

 • Represents the total number of starts per course within the selected time frame

Total Completions: # of Courses with a completion date

 • Represents the total number of completions per course within the selected time frame

Engagement Score: (# of Total Starts x 50%) + (# of Total Completes x 50%)

 • Represents the relative active engagement of an employee compared to others

Most Engaged Courses/Most Engaged Groups - Based on Total Starts

As an HR Leader, I want to know which courses are most prevalent and which groups of trainees are most active in taking courses.

Similar to the Trainee Leaderboard, the Most Engaged Courses and Most Engaged Groups snapshots give top 3 lists that can be modified by time frame and used to portray activity by volume easily. These quick facts can recognize or inform understanding of prominent groups and coursework.

Definitions

Total Starts: # of Courses with a start date

 • Represents the total number of starts per course within the selected time frame

Engagement Score: (# of Total Starts x 50%) + (# of Total Completes x 50%)

 • Represents the relative active engagement of an employee compared to others

As an HR Leader, I need visibility to course quality metrics and the ability to see course activity details month to month.

The KPI cards on the left display quality measurements (Course Completion %, Avg. Final Grade) and portray changes from last year to the current year. The middle number portrays the amount of change, and an up arrow indicates positive change or a down arrow indicates negative change. These KPI cards can be affected by changes to the Time Frame and Course Name filters, along with filter actions on the adjacent charts.

In addition, to quality KPIs, the Trainee Course Enrollment Summary table provides a detailed summary of enrollment activities for every month. In contrast, the Course Enrollment by Assigned Group chart portrays the composition of trainees by Group affiliation.

Definitions

Course Completion % /Complete %: # of Course Attempts Completed / # of Course Invites

 • Represents the rate of completion that trainees invited to a course complete the course in its entirety within the selected Time Frame

Avg. Final Grade: Sum of All Grades / # of Courses

 • Reports the final grade on a scale of 0 to 100 for those course(s) that utilize grading as a course completion outcome within the Time Frame date picker’s selected time frame

Invited:Sum of Course Invitations Sent

Group Enrollment by Assigned Groups donut chart - clicking on any slice of the donut chart will filter other dashboard elements to data associated with the selected group.

Course Enrollment History

What does this tell me, and why does it matter?

As an HR Leader, I need a detailed report to investigate data at the trainee course attempt level.

While consuming insightful summary information is very important, HR administrators must have employee-level reporting to create lists for various purposes. Using filtering and sorting capabilities of the Course Enrollment History table, HR leaders can create lists of employees who have yet to complete required courses with approaching deadlines, or they can itemize trainees who have missed course deadlines and are out of compliance.

Definitions

Days to Deadline: Course Completion Deadline Date - Current Date

 • The difference between the course completion deadline and the current date is measured by several days. Days to Deadline will display a negative number if the deadline has passed.

Active Training Time: Time module is open in Player / # of Courses Complete

 • This data is available for all courses started or completed after Aug 31 2022
 • Active training time is displayed as Hours: Minutes: Seconds
