Insights Dashboard Overview

The Insights dashboard is made up of several visualizations and reports that provide both high-level trends and detailed learning activity. Each section below explains what the dashboard displays, why it matters, and how the associated metrics are calculated.

Dashboard Items

Engagement Trends

What does this tell me, and why does it matter?

The Engagement Trends dashboard helps HR leaders understand how learning activity changes over time.

By combining a trend chart with an automated data narrative, the dashboard highlights quarterly patterns for:

  • Course Invites
  • Course Starts
  • Course Completes

Organizing activity by quarter makes it easier to compare learning trends over time and identify seasonal patterns within your organization.

The narrative below the chart summarizes important observations, allowing HR leaders to quickly identify:

  • When learning activity is highest
  • Periods with lower learner engagement
  • Where non-starts are most common
  • When course completion is accelerating

These insights help organizations better understand employee learning behavior and identify opportunities to improve engagement.

Definitions

Metric Definition
Learning Activity Total Invites + Total Starts + Total Completes. Used to determine when trainees are most active in starting and completing learning content.
Non-Starts % (Total Course Invites − Total Course Starts) ÷ Total Course Invites. Represents the percentage of trainees who have been invited to a course but have not yet started it.
Course Completion % Completed Course Attempts ÷ Course Invites. Represents the percentage of invited courses that have been completed.
Average Quarterly Completes Total Course Completes ÷ Number of Quarters in the selected time frame. Displays the average number of course completions per quarter.

Note: The original formula for Course Completion % appears to conflict with its accompanying definition. The definition indicates the intended calculation is Completed Course Attempts ÷ Course Invites.

Pro Tip

Click any quarterly bar in the chart to filter the remainder of the dashboard to that specific quarter.
